Is Bridge a Sport ?

Is Bridge a Sport ?

With the lack of significant and rigorous physical activity, together with Chess, Bridge will always be under this classic scrutiny: whether or not bridge is a sport. I can see where the confusion started: people relates sport with physical health  and people wrongly assume that sport and physical activity/exercise is synonym.

For example: a mother tell his fat kid, “Don’t just sitting around watching TV and eat, do some sport!” – Well, what the mother really want to say is “Do some physical activity”. If the kid then running around with friends outdoor in the park, swim around in the river or play Frisbee on the beach, etc will the mother be happy?Yes, I guess….

  2. deck of playing card

35 Kind of Contracts in Bridge

35 Kind of Contracts in Bridge

Once everybody has 13 cards on their hand, then the first battle is to win a contract. Just like the real world contract, to achieve the highest contract we will need to do an auction. And may the highest bidder win.

The contract is simple: the partnership whoever win a contract promise to win certain trick with certain suit as their trump card – or they can choose to use without any trump card.

The other partnership/the opponent will try to defeat the contract by winning as much trick as they can so that the  other partnership cannot deliver their contract.

Bridge: 52 Cards in A Deck = 4 Suits of 13 Cards

Bridge: 52 Cards in A Deck = 4 Suits of 13 Cards

Bridge is a card game. So it needs a deck of cards to play with.

The deck of card used is the “standard” playing card we see normally being played on computer or table by young or old. It consists of 52 cards with 4 suits and so 13 cards in a suit.
